 Binary Opposition is a theory created by Claude Levi Strauss. Narrative is understood by 2 opposites. Such as an ally and a villain. 

Tzvetan Todorov states naratives moved forward in chronological order with one action following after another, 

Cause and Effect theory by Pam Cook. Linear Narrative.
