1a. Explain what the term DAB means and state one advantage to the consumer of using DAB.

The term DAB means digital audio broadcasting. An advantage of a consumer. using this is that it is portable and wireless allowing people to use one while at home or away. While people are travelling to work for example they can use a digital radio as they can change music without losing signal. 

1b. 

- Listening to the radio via apps is more popular then listening to radio via DAB because you can now listen to the radio digitally by using a phone which is portable allowing you to listen wherever you choose to.

2a. Explain what The acronym BARB stands for and what the organisation does. 

BARB stands for Broadcasters Audience Research Board, BARB logs data on graphs and collect data from tv channels and show which channels have been most viewed. 

2b. explain three interpretations that can be made about the differences in audience demographic between viewers of ITV1 and BBC. Use examples and evidence from the data to support you answer. 

- One interpretation is that more women watch ITV1 as the main programmes are soap operas and stereotypically women watch soap operas such as coronation street. 

- A second interpretation is that people who are seen as rich or upper class will watch BBC2 

3a. 

An independent company sometimes choose to work with other companies as part of a joint venture to promote their business even further and have more recognition and a higher chance to make profit as there's a higher chance people are going to see it. This can increase the marketing of the product as the other company could have higher popularity. 

3b.  Explain two disadvantages of being an independent company. Use examples to support your answer. 

A disadvantage of being an independent company is that you don't have another company to help you so everything is close and you might not be able to promote your business how you would like to and have a smaller audience. Another disadvantage could be the lack of resources as it could cost a lot more and effect the companies budget to promoting their business. 

4. Identify four brands produced by cross media conglomerate that you have studied.

Instagram, WhatsAPP, Oculus VR and Live Rail 

5. Identify two post-production job roles and for each explain how they contributed to a specific media product you have studied. 

Special Effects is an important job role as you want the business to look professional and also good for aesthetics, this will allow people to like the look of your business and intrigue them. An editor is an important job role as you want the business to not be boring and also make it look good and professional. 

There are many different jobs an editor can do such as a sound editor, a visual editor
